5th place on sight as Tusker welcome Mount Kenya United in Machakos

Tusker left it late in their last Kenya Premier League fixture against Sofapaka at the Machakos Stadium on Sunday. Trailing 2-0 with five minutes to go, Robert Matano’s side pulled a memorable comeback that saw them even the scores with virtually the last kick of the game.

The brewers will, however, need to take the initiative when they face off with Mount Kenya United at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Thursday afternoon. Currently, on 42 points, Tusker will need a win to equal 5th placed Kakamega Homeboyz tally of 45 points. Tusker’s form in recent matches has seen them lose just once on their last 5 matches.

Mount Kenya United, on the other hand, is a team in deep, deep trouble. Only last month, the side who are bottom of the log awarded a walkover to Gor Mahia citing financial difficulties and have only amassed 18 points from 28 matches, proper relegation form in any part of the world.

Mount Kenya have lost 4 of the last 5 matches they have played in conceding 10 in the same duration while scoring only 3 and keeping zero clean sheets. Tusker will surely be looking at those stats and get encouraged, especially their forward line which has the likes of Boniface Muchiri.

The match kicks off at 3pm and we will have all the details as they happen…
