Sonko Sacrifices Powerless Secretary As Anti-Graft Agencies Come Knocking

Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko is a marked man after dismissing reports that he is under investigations over graft at the Capital City.

The flamboyant governor Monday dismissed newspaper headlines that implied he is being investigated after an Auditor General’s report displayed glaring fiscal misappropriations.

But Wednesday evening, officers drawn from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) stormed into City Hall, taking with them a little-known county secretary and a couple of “crucial documents.”

The EACC officials who had come ready to search Ms Pauline Kahiga were forcibly repulsed by the County Security boss Mr Tito Kilonzi who later directed the county askaris to kick out journalists.

The push and pull went on for close to an hour when the EACC finally had their way and drove the acting County Secretary to their offices.

Sonko maintains innocence amid the damaging Auditor General’s Report that exposed the loopholes the county may have used to loot from public coffers.

In a recent TV interview, Sonko came loaded with a hundred vehicle log books and a couple of title deeds to prove to that he is a wealthy man who is not interested in the county cash.
