“I’m still going places…” Sonko speaks on his political journey

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s political career is an interesting one all from the beginning to how he persuaded Nairobians to become the county’s governor. He is known for his mulla generosity that shocks many and at the same time has touched so many lives.

He is so extravagant that his wealth has been trending today after his net worth revealed in addition to the known story of him earning his 1st million in High School.

One of his early investments popular bar called COCO beach in his revelation used to rake Ksh4 million on average every weekend, thus provided him with more capital to invest in other ventures such as buying the first ever double-decker bus in the city (registered as KAZ 212G under his wife’s name), adding that it was actually renown journalist Julie Gichuru who helped him during the importation process.

The governor is reported to have shed tears in an interview during the defense of allegations pertaining to the source of his vast wealth.

Sonko went on to castigate a local daily over what he termed as a typical case of character assassination whereby his detractors were paying off editors to tarnish his name with an eye on the 2022 general elections.

“I’m was fought when I vied to become an MP, I was fought when I vied to become a senator and they are fighting me now that I’m governor, but I’m still going places,” an assertive Sonko intimated.

The Nairobi Boss had announced earlier this year that he would not seek a second term at City hall but did not mention where next his political aspirations would take him.

Perhaps the Governor is a strong believer of actions speak louder than words and rather prefers we read his next career move from his actions. The once dubbed “Kenya’s most stylish politician” may be the next successor to the Presidency going by the ongoing war on graft and recovery of public lands in Nairobi.

Sonko has taken the latter close to heart, recently blowing the whistle on cases of corruption and exposing cartels behind grabbing of hauls of land and employing NYS’s “Green Mamba” in taking down the properties on those lands.

In the interview, he went to affirm that he would not stop handing out his hard-earned money to the less fortunate, as God had blessed him enough to be able to help out where he can.
