Why Royal Baby don’t automatically qualify as a prince

Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby will be the seventh in line to the throne, hence doesn’t automatically become a prince.

In 1917, King George V limited the use of such titles within the British royal family and the couple’s child will be too far down the line of succession.

However, Queen Elizabeth II could step in to overrule that decree — as she has done with the younger children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Since George is third in line to the throne, he was automatically a prince.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s newborn will be seventh in line to the British throne.

Here’s a recap of the line of succession:

  1. Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales — the Queen’s oldest son
  2. Prince William — Charles’s oldest son
  3. Prince George — William’s oldest child
  4. Princess Charlotte — William’s second oldest child
  5. Prince Louis — William’s third oldest child
  6. Prince Harry — Prince Charles’s second oldest son
  7. Baby Sussex

Meghan and Harry’s newborn is finally here but the public will have to wait until Wednesday to see the first baby pics.

Congrats!
