Firebrand activist and politician Boniface Mwangi has told the police that the revolution charges he is facing is not a crime and not anywhere near treason.

The activist was arrested from his home on Monday morning and charged with trying to organise a revolution which is likely to cause civil unrest and breach of peace.

But Mwangi has told the police that angry and hungry Kenyans feel like revolting against poor governance and corruption.

“Civil servants, police officers, the military and every single Kenyan is tired. Wamechoka na njaa, umaskini na kukosa kazi. Watu wamechoka kuibiwa. Wamechoka na wizi. The revolution in Kenya will be organic.” Reads a post on his official Twitter handle.

He further warns that people are not stupid and know who has been stealing their money.

“When that time comes, there will be no power that can stop them.” he said.

With more than 1.3 million followers on Twitter, Boniface has been using his influence to call for an end to the wanton stealing of public funds.

Last week, he accused Kenyans of staying away from demonstrations. He shared three pictures of huge crowds in South Africa and Uganda during demonstration but in Kenya leaders are arrested with impunity.

Kenyans turned up in large numbers at the Central Police Station while his name was trending at number one immediately he announced his arrest.

Is Mwangi the messiah Kenyans have been waiting for?
