DCI detectives arrested Boniface Mwangi on Monday morning without giving him a reason. He was later told that he has information about a revolution, which is likely to cause civil unrest and a breach of peace.
But as Kenyans continue to agitate for the activists release ( He has since been let go). Some are asking why he was really arrested in the first place. We have in our possession, a tweet he made last week.
The tweet was posted on Wednesday, after the arrest and subsequent release of activist Betty Washiro in Nairobi the previous day.
Mwangi was calling for Kenyans to rise up and take on the despots the Ugandan and South African way, and this might not have gone down well with the status quo.
Boniface and Bobi Wine are close friends and he was among the few Kenyans who hosted the Uganda politician when he visited Kenya last year.
He also organised a demonstration to agitate for the release of one of Museveni’s biggest threats when he was arrested in August last year.
With 1.3 million followers on Twitter, Boniface Mwangi is one of the most influential Kenyans and if he chooses to organise a revolution, then the Deep State will surely be afraid.
But is arresting him the solution?
