President Kenyatta urges prayers for Kenya in Ramadhan message

President Uhuru Kenyatta has in a statement expressed his best wishes to Muslim citizens over the Holy of Ramadhan.

The president in his statement urged the Muslims to remember the nation in their prayers.

“As you embark on this solemn pillar of your faith, I urge all of you to remember our nation in your prayers and may your devotion be rewarded,” he said.

He further asked Kenyans not to pay attention to minor challenges and instead cherish unity.

“I also take this opportunity to encourage all Kenyans to cherish unity and tolerance; and to discard the minor challenges that seek to divide us while embracing the bonds that unite us,” he added.

The president further reflected on the period of Ramadhan as an opportunity that has always been a reminder of Kenya’s cultural diversity and its beauty.

“Faith continues to occupy a central place in the wellbeing of our nation and religious institutions play a key role in the promotion of essential values of unity, tolerance, compassion, charity and integrity. These are values that are critical for the wellbeing of the individual, family, and the entire nation,” he said.

This comes after the holy month of Ramadhan was officially announced on Sunday, after the crescent moon was seen in Hola, in Tana River County.
