Dr John Onsati is the new Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) chairman.
Dr Onsati appointment comes a month after Prof Magoha took over as the Cabinet Secretary for Education from CS Amina Mohammed who was transferred to the Sports Ministry.
He comes in a time when the council is getting ready in preparations for the primary and secondary school national examinations in November.
Dr Onsati is a senior consultant in organizational development and transformation, education and training.
The council congratulated him noting he had worked with Prof Magoha for three years.
He is expected to speed up recruitment of a substantive chief executive of the council.
Dr Mercy Karogo has been serving as acting Knec CEO since 2016. The post was advertised in the dailies in 2018 but no one was recruited.
