Why Ruto won’t miss Kisii invitation on Saturday

Deputy president William Ruto is expected to visit Kisii County over the Weekend.

The DP is expected to tour various constituencies within the region while being accompanied by dozen of politicians and elders.

Veteran politician Patrick Osero said Dr. Ruto is expected at Nyansiongo in Nyamira County on Saturday, although he did not give further details.

“DP William Ruto shall be attending a fundraiser in Borabu on Saturday. You’re all welcome,” said Osero, DP Ruto’s long-term business associate and confidant from Nyamira.

Deputy President William Ruto will return to Gusii for a church fundraiser amid criticism over huge amounts of money he has been giving for church donations.

In the past one year, Ruto has made 20 trips jointly to Kisii and Nyamira Counties. He’s targeting to edge out Raila Odinga, who has dominated the region for a couple of years now.

A fortnight ago, ODM leader Raila Odinga accused some churches of being used for money laundering, an attack presumed to have targeted Deputy President William Ruto.

“Some church leaders are true to their calling, others are not. We need to ask the source of the millions of money being taken to churches,” said Raila.

“We need to ask if someone’s salary is Sh1 million a month, where do they get Sh5 million each week or between Sh15 and Sh20 million a month to hold fundraisers in churches?”

In March, Ruto donated Sh10 million cash for construction of South Kenya Conference offices in Kisii, a move that caused political storm. He has often been questioned to reveal the source of his money.
