How Achieng ‘lied’ to secure Ksh 5 million on Ellen Show

On the wake of this Friday, an internet sensation thrilled Kenyans and fans of Ellen Show after she was reunited with family.

Achieng Agutu was surprised by Ellen Degeneres when she brought her parents on the Live show.

Agutu opened up about her stay in the US and how parents catered for her studies.

But why do Kenyans call her a liar?

Achieng told Ellen that she learned her English from her show back in Kenya where she could watch songs in her show and google lyrics in a cyber cafe.

How does this become a lie?

In Kenya, English is a compulsory subject straight from Nursery school to tertiary level, so there is no point someone can learn it from a cyber.

The second thing is that to get to watch Ellen Show on a TV station in Kenya means that one has to be privileged of which from her story, she was not.

She added that her family sold land and even borrowed money to help her study but again contradicted with the fact that her parents are ‘blessed’ and support more than ten kids in form of fees, books, and uniforms.

After a lengthy debate on Twitter about her truths and outright lies, her Linkedin profile is out and she studied at Braeburn International school between 2009-2012.

This even contradicts her story more because Braeburn school are for the who is who in the community and English is their primary language.

Here is a screenshot from her Linkedn profile;

But hey, we will cut her some slack since she is winning, unlike our politicians who are looting Kenyan dry.

Do you buy her story, and if yes then why?
