Woman Stares at Jail over Facebook Post

Police are looking for a woman who allegedly posted defamatory statements on Facebook.

The woman, Jacqueline Achieng Okuta is said to have posted photos of Humphrey Lwembe, Sylvia Uchi Lwembe and Emmanuel Kimeu Judah  on the Facebook Page “Buyer Beware.”

Kwale resident Magistrate Ms Christine Njagi has ordered Diani OCS Patrick Kubasu to produce Ms Okuta who posted the statements some three months ago.

In the offensive post, Ms Okuta wrote: “the persons pictured and named above are wanted for illegal possession and handling of property. Anyone with any information regarding either of the three get in touch with-Facebook page.”

Under Section 29 (a) of the Kenya Communications and Information Act, the law prohibits the posting of misleading information that taint the reputation of a person.

Ms Okuta has earlier on been released on a Sh20,000 bail awaiting hearing of her case.

But when she failed to appear before the court, Magistrate Njagi ordered Diani OCS Kubasu to immediately arrest and bring her to book.
