Workers in Kenya have walked home with nothing in their pockets. In the light of the Labour Day Celebration workers were anticipating for an increment.

According to Francis Atwoli who is the COTU’s Secretary General, he was foreseeing an increment of 15% in exchange of the housing levy which workers are supposed to be deducted 1.5% from their salaries.

But workers have gone back home as a disappointed lot with nothing to smile about.

According to CS Ukur Yattani, the Government will review the workers demands and give them a response in the course of the week.

Most workers were looking forward for the government to address their working conditions but for now they have to wait.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s failure to turn up for the Labour Day Celebration was a clear evidence that workers would get nothing.
