Mudavadi: We are tired of the handshake, We want handcuffs

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to crack the whip on corrupt government officials.

Speaking during the Labor Day Celebrations at Uhuru Park, Mudavadi said that Kenyans are tired of the talk about the handshake yet leaders are running away with public funds.

‘We have said enough about the handshake. Let us see handcuffs. Tunataka Rais atoe pingu na ashike wezi. Lakini tukizungumzia handshake na wezi wanazidi kuiba, then we are misleading Kenyans.’

The anti-corruption talk dominated the Labor day celebrations with leaders saying enough is enough.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said that he is ready to lead Kenyans for a mega demonstration to kick out corrupt officials out of government.

He said there is need for laws to be enacted to process corrupt cases.

‘The wheels of justice move slowly. It is possible to get bail even before you are arrested’ Kalonzo said. He said Kenyans want to see convictions and return of public funds.

Mudavadi asked trade unions to keep the eye on the ball on matters public debt because it has increased taxation.

“We must look at public debt as we analyse Kenyans’ problems. Deni la umma ni kubwa sana na hilo ndilo linafanya ushuru uongezwe kila siku”

On Tuesday, a few Kenyans demonstrated at Uhuru Park, asking for an end to corruption. But they were teargassed and some of them arrested.
