This Year’s Labour Day Celebrations failed to live to the hype as Kenyan Workers went home empty handed with the Government failing to given them a pay rise.
This is despite the fact that the Country is now facing high rates of inflation that has even been made worse by the rising cases of corruption day in day out.
This Year’s celebrations were mainly political with COTU failing to address a number of issues that affect the Kenyan workers and the common mwananchi at large.
It was expected that Atwoli would address isuues like the 1.5% house levy. He instead went Political and attacked any politician he felt was against him and his quest to do away with DP Ruto come 2022.
This Year’s Celebrations did not attract a good number of Kenyans with large sections of Uhuru Park empty.
This is unlike the case in 1970 when Kenyans turned out in Large numbers to mark the annual Labour day celebrations.

This Year’s celebrations did not even see the President or his Deputy attend. Uhuru was instead represented by Labour CS Ukur Yatani.
It was however interesting to note that many politicians allied to the Opposition Party were in attendance. They included Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Mishi Mboko etc.
Politicians like Moses Kuria from the ruling Jubilee Party even felt that the event was turned into a NASA political rally.
In a facebook Post, Kuria said that It’s sad that he attended Labour Day thinking its a Workers Day only for it to turn out to be another NASA rally.
