Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva heap praise on the club’s summer signing targets

Manchester City is planning to strengthen its squad in the summer signings and has been linked to a number of new signings as the season near the end.

One of their targets is Benfica’s Bruno Bernardo whom Bernado Silva has come out praising.

The Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva says his international teammate Bruno Fernandes could play in another European league after this season.

City is among the clubs to be linked with Sporting midfielder Fernandes, who is reportedly valued at €100m by his club, and Bernardo was asked about his progress in the Primeira Liga this season.

Fernandes has 28 goals and 16 assists in 49 appearances for Sporting, including five direct goal contributions in the Europa League.

And Bernardo told O Jogo how impressed he has been with his fellow Portugal midfielder, hinting that he will leave Sporting this summer for another country.

“Bruno [Fernandes] is a great player,” Bernardo said.

“He has made a fantastic season with many goals, many assists that are not normal for a player of his position, he has the spearhead numbers and we will see what happens at the end of the season.

“[He is a] player who can play in other championships.”

Bernardo also praised Benfica winger Joao Felix, who has also been linked with a move to the Etihad this summer.

Discussing Benfica’s title chances, as they lead Porto by two points with three games remaining, Bernardo praised the talent of their young stars – including Felix.

He said: “I think the reaction was very positive [at Benfica], especially the bet on the youngsters. Ferro has been playing in an incredible way, Florentino, [João] Félix and Jota, who have not played so much, I’m very happy with the best information.”
