Why Sonko is triggering ouster of 47 legislatures

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko may contribute to 47 county officials losing their jobs.

Governor Mike Sonko has been running Nairobi County as one man army which has raised a lot of questions.

But in various Senate summons Mike Sonko has always stood his ground defending his position of running Nairobi County alone.

Although his idea may be seen as a joke it may be a rise of scrapping of the office of the Deputy Governor in all the 47 counties.

Most legislatures and most people have questioned the roles of the Deputy Governors in Kenya.

Most of them in many cases are reduced to curtain raises to the Governors.

Some of the Deputy Governor’s do not fully understand their roles which leads to duplication of roles.

In attempts to reduce the amount of money the state spends to pay off their expensive salaries and allowances, most people are of the idea of doing away with the idea.

Other positions in question include that of the Women Representative and the Senate.

That of the senate emerged recently after MPs lead by Hon Duale and Hon Mbadi accused the Senators of duplicating the roles of the members of the National Assembly.

This is all possible if the country goes to a referendum and Kenyans decide on the type of government structures both from the National Government to the County Governments.

More views continue to trickle in on scrapping some positions.

What is opinion on this debate?

Which position do you think as a country we should do away with it?
