The hearing of the Sharon Otieno Murder case involving Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his co-accused Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero could take a new twist if the latest set of demands by Oyamo and Obiero are taken into account.

Oyamo and Obiero have presented an application asking that Justice Jessie Lessit excuses herself from handling their case.

According to the two, Judge Lessit will not deliver a fair trial.

They have accused her of making prejudicial remarks that even saw her deny them bail in the first place.

Oyamo has argued that Justice Lessit will not accord him a fair and impartial trial.

“I do apprehend, and reasonably so, that I shall not be accorded a fair and impartial trial and I request that the case against me be presided over by any judge other than Justice Lessit,” stated Oyamo.

They have decried mistreatment by Justice Lessit.

“All accused persons applied to be admitted on bail and bond and a decision was made which allowed Governor Obado to be released on bail while Caspal Ojwang and myself were denied bail,” Oyamo continued.

Sharon, a then 26-year-old student at Rongo University in Migori County, was gruesomely murdered and her body dumped in Kodera Forest.

She was alleged to have had an affair with Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
