‘Declare your stand on Ruto’s support’ Mt Kenya political Elites now commands Uhuru

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has led some of the leaders from central Kenya in challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare his stand regarding Deputy President William Ruto’s quest to succeed him.

This happens a day after the Mt Kenya business mogul and deposed politician (with an outstanding work record nonetheless) suddenly changed his tune and started walking with William Ruto.

This is not the first instance where Kabogo is challenging President Kenyatta’s manliness. In many occasions, whenever given a chance to speak to a gathering, especially when President Kenyatta is also around, Kabogo is never afraid to challenge the president. He has done this several times.

Therefore, Sunday’s challenge to Uhuru to declare his stand regarding William Ruto’s 2022 ambitions should not be taken lightly. Kabogo is on to something tremendous. Besides, does the president ever has any stand? Has he not sung war against corruption on repeat with no much action?

There is a serious division among Mt. Kenya politicians. The division arises because of the divergent views about what a new Mt Kenya political dynasty should look like, and, most importantly, how it should be created. The Kenyattas are done and must be replaced. They can no longer lead Mt Kenya, unless they move back to the deep state.

One school of thought in Mount Kenya believes that betraying Ruto is the way to go. This is the team that Moses Kuria leads. This faction is reckless and hasty. They already formed a new politically in the name of “sending a message” to William Ruto.

The other school of thought comprises mature politicians who understand the value of restraint. This is the faction of Kabogo. It holds that supporting Ruto is strategic-  they will buy enough time to groom another Mt Kenyan president.

Therefore, in the wisdom of Kabogo’s political class, betraying William Ruto just to please the retiring President Kenyatta is not in the best interest of the community.

President Uhuru Kenyatta must decide speedily as Mt Kenya no longer has use for him.
