Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu is a wanted man by EACC if he fails to respond to anti-graft agency audit queries.
Waititu, along with other county officials are expected to provide documents and respond to concerns raised by EACC. “It is part of the investigations and they might be guilty or innocent,” an investigating officer.
“The EACC will forward its findings to the ODPP who can make clearance, observation or amendments.”
Officials privy to the investigation said the county had an unsupported expenditure of Sh786 million.
This comes barely a day after former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero and six Nairobi county officials, accountants were arrested by EACC over irregular payment of sh 68 million. Ten more officials at large are still being sought.
The EACC has been investigating allegations over irregular payment made to Wachira Mburu, Mwangi and Company advocates purporting that it was irregular fees.
DPP Noordin Haji said he found sufficient evidence to support criminal charges against Kidero, Wainaina, former Nairobi City Council Acting Director Legal Affairs Aduma Joshua Owuor and former mayor John Ndirangu.
According to EACC Kyavee Holdings Limited never existed and therefore, had no legal capacity to sue the county.
