The role of Deputy President William Ruto is one which cannot be overlooked by any Kenyan who has been closely following the just concluded Wajir-West by-elections.
Ruto is the one who welcomed Ahmed Kolosh, the now validly elected Wajir West MP to Jubilee after he decamped to ODM following a nullification of his win by the Supreme Court.
Ruto received Kolosh at the Jubilee party headquarters and announced that he would be their frontrunner in the Wajir West by-election.
“As we welcome you to our party, we want to assure you that we will campaign for you to win,” Dr Ruto said at the time.
Ruto is also said to have been the one who talked to ODM’s candidate Prof. Mohamed Yussuf who later pulled out at the last minute.
Mr. Kolosh was announced the eventual winner of the just concluded mini-polls after he garnered 11,053 votes as his closest rival Sheikh Ibrahim (KANU) came a distant second with 6,532 votes.
After his win, a number of leaders took time to congratulate him for giving the Jubilee Party victory.
Deputy President William Ruto also took time to congratulate Mr. Kolosh for recapturing the seat.
According to the Country’s second in command, Kolosh’s win is a clear testament to the confidence his constituents have on his ability and that of the Jubilee Party.
Ruto wished Mr. Kolosh all the best as he embarks on Serving the people of Wajir West.
“Congratulations to Jubilee’s Mohamed Ahmed Kolosh for recapturing the Wajir West Constituency seat. The victory is testament to the confidence your constituents have on your ability and our party. Godspeed as you embark on service delivery and quality representation,” Said Ruto.
