DPP’s full statement on the Arrest of Kidero, 16 others

Detectives from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission this morning have arrested former Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero.

According to the statement released by the office of the Director Of Public Prosecutions on Friday morning, Nairobi City County made an illegal payment of Ksh 68 million to the Law Firm of M/s Wachira Mburu, Mwangi and Company Advocates, during Kidero’s tenure.

EACC submitted the duplicate inquiry file to DPP’s office on December 11, 2018 and upon perusal and consideration of the evidence therein a number of gaps were identified that required to be covered by way of further investigations before charges could be filed in Court.

EACC undertook further investigations and resubmitted the inquiry file to the Director of Public Prosecutions on April 4, 2019.

Once again the inquiry file was reviewed and the DPP found that the evidence therein was sufficient to support criminal charges against Kidero and his Co.

Here is the full statement.
