Born in Mombasa, Ali Mohammed Said, famously know as Masauti, had a music passion since his childhood. He would sing while at school and had visions of working on big platforms.
He dropped out of school at form two due to insufficient school fees. Having been raised by a single mother, he explained a lot of challenges being the firstborn of three.
He started singing at the age of 1 while still at primary school. After dropping from school he asked his mother the permission to pursue music, a decision his mother wasn’t comfortable with.
He convinced her that if he was to prosper in music, he was to go back home to support her financially. He also told her that after he was financially stable he was to pay his school fees and complete his secondary school.
Though not convinced, his mother agreed. Masauti would visit the recording studio frequently that he even became friends with the producers. They started producing music for him without asking for payment.
He did his first son in the year 2009. He shared his music with J Blessing and would communicate with him asking him for his help in music. J Blessing helped him to meet his dreams.
He sent him money for fare to Nairobi where he met him and helped him to nurture his dreams. Masauti would record music without any payment while under J Blessing. He was also introduced to producer Tedd Josiah and Jalangó.
He was later signed in under Melody recording label. Unfortunately, it was closed down leading him to work with producer Motive who later connected him to the OG, Khaligraph Jones.
Khaligraph helped him in the Kiboko remix. Masauti revealed that Kiboko is the song which made him famous and outshined all his previous songs.
