The history of curses varies between cultures, locations, religions or beliefs, and times.
Comedian and radio host Jalang’o has revealed that he was told he would die, if he built his mother a house after his father died.
In a discussion on beliefs he had in studio with his co-host Mwakideu, Jalang’o narrated how he was told he would die for building his mother a house.
He went on to say that Luo tradition required that his mother got married to another man after his father’s death, for his mother to move to a new house.
The comedian said that he went on and bought land and built his mother a house, but he is still waiting to die.
At the time, according to Jalang’o people from his village feared that he had brought trouble on himself for going against tradition.
Jalang’o added that the Luo tradition restricts people from doing things before their elder brothers do them, for instance building a house.
