Imagine paying the housing levy tax for 40 years, but still miss out on getting a house because you were not lucky in the lottery?

Well this is a very huge possibility. On Tuesday, Transport PS Charles Hinga was interviewed by Citizen TV’s Hussein Mohammed and he confirmed that indeed a lottery will be used to determine who gets a house.

Really? Already there have been a lot of uproar on social media concerning the housing levy tax which was temporarily suspended by the court. But Kenyans cannot believe that the government is planning to go on with this big idea.

In Kenya, no lottery is bigger than the giant betting firm Sportpesa which has made a few Kenyans millionaires and many more poor. In the housing programme, a few Kenyans will get houses but many more will end up poor.

Has the government considered the fact that some of us are very poor when it comes to lotteries? Kuna mtu hajaishinda bet tangu aanze kuwekeza. What will happen then?

Fresh details on this housing levy fund is giving Kenyans more reason to resist it completely because it does not make sense anywhere. It is a scam, worse than Public likes.

In fact angry Kenyans have asked the government to let Sportpesa manage the whole project because at least the company is consistent.

What is your opinion on the new housing levy fund?
