Maurizio Sarri’s uncontrollable adrenaline hands him a date with FA’s disciplinary committee

The English Premier League experienced its most intriguing part over the weekend as the first top four clubs fighting for the UEFA slot lot their matches while Chelsea drew against Burnley.

This was more to a loss to Chelsea which saw the manager sent away by the referee and is currently facing a charge. Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been charged by the FA after Monday’s touchline brawl against Burnley.

Sarri was sent off after a touchline row between both benches in the closing stages of Monday’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian was left furious and refused to talk to the media, claiming he was abused by the visiting coaching team.

He has now been charged with misconduct by the FA and has until Friday to respond to the charge.

An FA Statement said: “Maurizio Sarri has been charged with misconduct in relation to his behaviour in the 94th minute of Monday’s [22/04/2019] Premier League fixture between Chelsea and Burnley.

“The Chelsea manager has until 18:00 on Friday [26/04/2019] to provide a response.”

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger and Burnley goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer had to be separated by the officials at the final whistle before David Luiz and Ashley Westwood also clashed as the teams left the field.

ESPN has claimed that Sarri lost his cool after being branded a ’s*** Italian’ by several individuals of the visiting club.

Chelsea is expected to lodge a formal complaint with the Football Association after Burnley’s backroom staff “offended” Sarri.

Blues coach Sarri could wind up with a touchline ban, though his assistant Gianfranco Zola reported his boss was in an angry state after the game.

Asked if Chelsea will contact the FA over Sarri’s frustrations, Zola said: “I think there will be a follow (up) on that. Maurizio felt very unhappy.

“We understand it’s a football game. You say words because of the adrenaline, but he wasn’t particularly happy.

“If Maurizio said that, probably it’s something that could have been avoided.”
