Police in Samburu County were on Tuesday met by an ill fate when they were attacked by bandits.
The officers were on a mission to recover 50 stolen livestock from the bandits in Suyan, in Samburu North according to Samburu County Police Commander Karanja Muiruri.
They were however overpowered by the bandits, leading to the killing of one police officer, while three others were seriously injured.
It is reported that the ambush unexpectedly took place in Marti area.
The injured are receiving treatment at Samburu County Referral Hospital in Maralal town, awaiting to be transferred to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
