The Kenya Meteorological Department shared a chart On Tuesday that showed Budalang’i, Kano areas, Western Kenya, Central Highlands areas such as Murang’a are prone to flood beginning in June.
POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEMS
Nairobi, however, seems to be getting it’s share of heavy rainfall. It’s funny that it’s only in Nairobi (Kenya) where roads are done without drainage and things are expected to remain normal.
Sonko has been constantly posting videos of his team unclogging drainages as a way to mitigate floods on Facebook. However, the flood menace seems not to have been controlled after roads flooded following less than an hour of the downpour.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
It’s the only place where all roads will flood during rainy seasons and nothing will be done after all because it’s seen to be a normal happening. Nairobians this morning were forced to look for alternative routes since their roads were flooded.
Here were some of their reactions:
10:04 Do some Nairobians commute to nowhere? A mat will detour from Mombasa rd, get to Outering then Jogoo rd cut through Eastleigh and a passenger alight in Pumwani.Where were you going via @alan_wachira
