The reason behind the usually very vocal leader of the majority Aden Duale silence has been unearthed as a huge debt of sh 1.5 billion that he apparently owes the Kenya Revenue Authority.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) last year announced it would be closing its online tax filing deadline on 30th June 2018.

The taxmen have since maintained this stand on not extending the deadline thereafter.

Taxpayers who fail to file their returns will accrue charges of 20,000 shillings for every day that counts.

We can only guess how much more Duale will have to lose if he doesn’t opt to use his political influence to get out of the mess.
