A Turkana County journalist has been reported to have gone into the woods following the kidnap of his source.
The Lodwar-based journalist Emmanuel Cheboit is reported by Standard to be under threats by the kidnappers of his source, Benedictus Maraka after covering the loss of relief food meant for Turkana County.
Mr Maraka was reportedly abducted in an attempt to make him retrieve statement in the journalist’s report.
“Shame on the thieves who stole relief food,” Maraka said in the coverage.
Albeit no one has directly sent him any suggestive threatening message yet, the journalist said that he fears for his safety as he has still held on to the report.
“I felt I was not safe after unknown people abducted a source who had narrated to me how the food disappeared. I fear for my life. This is not the first time journalists have been threatened here,” a distraught Cheboit said.
