What America Did After Sri Lanka Attack

Sri Lanka’s death toll hit 290 on Monday morning with injuries soaring to over 500 people.

In the multiple bomb attacks that happened on Easter Sunday, about 24 people have been arrested and are being interrogated.

The bombings which targeted mostly churches and hotels killed travelers and many tourists of different countries in the world.

A curfew would later be put in place in Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo demanding that citizens stay indoors even as police battle with the extremist militants.

Monday morning, armed soldiers dotted Colombo with massive security presence stationed every 30 yards.

This becomes the highest death toll Sri Lanka has ever experienced in the last 26 years after a prolonged war with the Tamil Tigers who captured the Northern region.

In the battle, tens of thousands of Tamil Tiger fighters were eliminated after the government went on a charm offensive to rid the country of militants.

Reports indicate that the country had been warned on April 11 about an impending attack on churches, but it was ignored.

Investigations are also revolving around why the warning was not heeded despite clear indications of an imminent attack.

Sunday night, bomb experts discovered a pipe bomb in the airport and carefully detonated it without reports of any injuries.

America said they were closely monitoring the situation, and would be ready to offer any kind of assistance.

India also promised to offer help to the small island country of just 22 million people.
