They say in politics, there are no permanent enermies! Again a day in politics is a long time. The latest revelation that ODM leader will accompany President Uhuru Kenyatta to China,to lobby for a 368b shilling loan for the expansion of SGR to Kisumu has Ruto camp angry at the head of state.
While speaking in Sondu yesterday afternoon,Raila said he will accompany Uhuru to China and he is hopeful the trip will bare fruits, granting Kenya the funds.
“I will be part of the delegation that will accompany the President to the Asian country next week. The new SGR line will extend from Naivasha to Narok, Bomet, Sondu and finally Kisumu,” said Mr Odinga.
It now emerges that this move has rattled Ruto considering his numerous attempts to dismantle the truce between Raila Odinga,christened the handshake. By accompanying Uhuru to China,Raila Odinga is driving a wedge within Jubilee even further.
Insiders of the DP say he is not happy because Raila Odinga is being treated as a very important pillar in government yet he is a competitor who has never been part of the Jubilee agenda.
Ruto,they say is feeling the heat given the increased sidelining he is facing from his own party. In the last week alone,he has not only received a public dress down from President Uhuru,but also his foot soldiers have felt the strong arm of the government by having their body guards withdrawn. In addition, he was publicly humiliated when top state officials,as well as state security snubbed his function in Nyeri.
For Uhuru to travel with Raila again to China, it is a case of driving a hot iron inside a wet wound. Country’s politics continue to realign itself, the system is already creating a bogeyman who will be an object of aggression in 2022. Ruto’s goose is already cooked.
