Francis Ontomwa quits KTN, lands new job at BBC

Francis Ontomwa has called it quits from KTN News after landing a lucrative job with top media house.

In a series of posts he shared on Facebook, Ontomwa announced that he had moved from KTN to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Africa.

“New beginnings loading… @ BBC Africa with colleagues from BBC Somali,” he said in one post.

“Let’s switch to BBC Africa. Great is thy faithfulness!” added Ontomwa in another post.

At KTN Francis Ontomwa who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Linguistics worked as Coast based reporter until recently when he was transferred to Nairobi.

After his announcement, his friends have been sending him congratulatory messages as he takes on the new challenge at BBC Africa.

“I have so much respect for journos who appreciate senior journos who shaped their path to top journalism. Congratulations Francis Ontomwa who now moves from KTN to BBC. You have grown professionally to surpass some of your mentors including yours faithfully. I think the most memorable thing you ever shared with me was the story about you waiting for the 9 pm or 7 pm News Bulletin to record my voice while i was on air and learn the ropes of TV/broadcast journalism. I am glad I was among those who shaped your career and you still appreciate it….its not everyone who does that in this industry where many grow by tramping on each other.
