Why Ivy’s Burial is Still The Talk of Her Town With Student’s Staying Put

The burial of the late medical student is still the talk of the village more so the way Moi university students mourned and buried their colleague.

Political leaders who attended the burial ceremony condemned the heinous act and noted that young people should look for other alternative ways of handling their relationship issues.

Among the leaders present included Othaya MP Gichuki Mugambi, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Nyeri County Woman Representative Rahab Mukami and the newly elected University of Nairobi student leader Ann Mwangi.

But what shocked many in the village is the straight As the late Wangechi scored in her Kenya Secondary Examination Council Exams (KCSE) to join medical school.

The family had kept it as a secret and mourners were surprised to learn during the burial service that the late Wangechi passed her exams with flying colours scoring A in all subjects in 2011 KCSE at Alliance Girls high school.

Villagers are now regretting losing a role model in a brutal style after she was hacked to death by her lover Naftalia Kinuthia who is behind bars.

Family and colleagues eulogized Ivy as a bright and dedicated girl who was focused on pursuing her goals in life.

The mourners who came from all walks of life gathered at Mahiga Primary School where they paid a touching tribute to Wangechi.

A spot check at the late Ivy’s home revealed that the family and villagers were still present at the home on Good Friday in a mourning expected to extend over the Easter holiday going by the heavy presence of students who were still at the home.
