Ruto gives parents lecture while condoling slain Ivy

Slain medical student Ivy Wangeci was finally laid to rest in an event that carried plenty of emotions as many paid their last respects.

Politicians at the funeral used the platform to push for the reintroduction of the Computer and Cybercrime Act.

Leaders present included Othaya MP Gichuki Mugambi, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami.

The Deputy President William Ruto who was in absentia, while speaking at AIPCA Church in Tetu in attendance of the Holy Week service has as well sent his condolences to the bereaved family.

“I was not able to attend the funeral where the other leaders have been and I’d like to send my condolences to the family and friends of Ivy,” he stated.

He has reminded Kenyan parents their role in raising their son’s and daughters who have gone to further their studies.

“We should also as parents know that it is our responsibility to guide our children even those who are in University.

“We should know that our country, even if we have problems, we have to talk with our children to ensure they can sustain themselves in a healthy manner so that we can avoid the deaths we are hearing right now,” he added.

He further urged the church to pray for the current generation, “so that our young men and women can be measured in what they do and they can be safe and protected from all the evil designs.”
