Arsenal players react to Europa League quarter-final victory

It was a job well done for Arsenal last night (Thursday) as they won 1-0 against Napoli to ensure their progress to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Alexandre Lacazette’s goal gave Unai Emery’s side victory in the second leg of the quarter-final tie, meaning the Gunners went through 3-0 on aggregate to set up a semi-final with Valencia.

It was a victory that pleased boss Unai Emery, who spoke of his pride at his players and the team effort in Naples, as the Gunners kept a clean sheet at the Stadio San Paulo.

“I’m very proud of my players, very proud of our work. Here we showed the players have the habit to play matches against good teams, good players, good atmosphere like here. We wanted more possession and to control the match with the ball.

“We didn’t do all I wanted but in the positioning, above all in the first half, we were very good. We pressed well against them, they want to win back possession with combinations. We did big pressing against them and were in their box on a lot of moments, [creating] the possibility to score.

“Our objective was to score, we did that, and after also to win and think to do one step, being consistent in 90 minutes.”

Arsenal will now play La Liga side Valencia in the semi-finals of the competition, with the first leg taking place at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday, May 2, before the second leg at the Mestalla a week later.

And here’s how the Arsenal stars have been reacting to the victory against Napoli on social media.
