Ruto’s friend lands a new job, stakeholders backed the bid

The second term Jubilee governor Salim Mvurya is the coast patron of
Kenya Primary Schools Headteachers Association (Kepsha). 

Kepsa influence education policy by empowering headteachers to nurture and promote individuals to learn to exploit their God-given talents for the world of work.

The Kepsha regional chairman Fuad Ali said the endorsement of Mvurya will benefit the coastal region education sector.

He hailed Mvurya for his role in the education sector since he was elected into the governorship post in 2007. Ali noted that the governor has been very passionate and committed to championing for education for many years.

“Mvurya’s commitment to education is evident for all to see. He has come up with education programmes that are exemplary in the entire nation and we feel he is the right patron for Kepsha,” said Ali,

During the two-day conference, 1,500 head teachers from different schools shared their experiences in various capacities. The regional education director, Mr. Hassan Duale said that the education sector has reaped endless benefits from devolution. 

The governor said that the new appointment will help transform the education sector by empowering teachers.

Mvurya said he is humbled by the new appointment and promised to serve the people with commitment during his reign in office.

“I take this responsibility you have bestowed upon me with humility and respect. I want to pledge my support and promise to use all possible opportunities and networks to ensure we succeed together and that Kepsha becomes an institution that provides leadership and mentors education leaders to sput performance in the entire region,” said Mvurya.

Education Regional Director Hassan Duale said lack of political goodwill by politicians had made most counties lag behind in education.

“This is a sensitive sector that requires all stakeholders and steadfast leadership, and as a region, we now have Governor Mvurya to assist us to bring everyone on board and push for good performance in our schools,” he said. Mvurya reaffirmed his commitment to the new course and pledged to double his efforts in supporting education programmes.

In the 2013 general elections, Mvurya ran for Kwale governorship on an ODM ticket with Fatuma Achani as his running mate in 2017 he camped in Jubilee and won.
