The prosecution said that the investigations would have to be extended to Bomet county where the two come from.

Speaking to journalists some hours before he was taken to court, Koech blamed Chepkemoi’s family for allegedly denying him his rights to see and take care of his child.

“Naomi is my wife and I love her very much. We started dating back in 2016 when I was at Kenyatta University,” said Kikoech.

Koech who seemed remorseful when talking to journalists said that he acted out of love for his wife and daughter. He asked the court to allow him to see his wife and daughter before his case commences.

“Before the case commences, I would like to be allowed to see my daughter and also my wife who is admitted at the hospital,” Koech said.

Chepkemoi was stabbed with a knife in the neck, breast, and back after the pair apparently argued over their child.
