KFCB Puts Musicians on Notice For Producing Lyrics degrading Women

Kenya Film Classification Board( KFCB) has put on notice musicians producing lyrics which degrade women and advocate for violence.

This has been triggered by the increased violence against women that has been recently hit the country.

The statement saw the controversial hit ‘Taka Taka’ hit song by Alvindo banned.

KFCB made it clear that the song produced by Fast Cash Music Kenya is restricted due to its obscene and degrading lyrics that advocate for violence against women by equating them to trash.

The song was released on 3rd January 2019 after the hype of a short verse by the artist which went viral.

‘Taka Taka’ is a song about a man trashing a woman after being rejected.

The Kenya Film Classification Board reached this decision with the aim of getting rid of content promoting gender violence and degradation of women.
