IG Mutyamabai focuses on police units over AP meeting

The recently installed Inspector General of the National Police Service on Tuesday met up with the Administration Police Service officers and placed particular focus on police units dealing with marginalised areas.

Mutyambai called for the improvement of key priority areas in the police unit, naming the Anti Stock Theft Unit, Rural Border Patrol Unit, Rapid Deployment Unit and Critical Infrastructure Police Unit.

The units have been probed amid a rise in banditry attacks in marginalised areas, with cases of murder due to livestock theft or tribal wrangles.

The Anti Stock Theft Unit is tasked with: Anti-stock theft operations, Stock –theft investigations, Preventive work on stock-theft and Crowd Control by use of Horses.
