DCI nabs millions of fake currency hours after fake gold scam

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal investigation, on Tuesday morning raided a premise along Kiboko/Mukoma road which led to the recovery of millions of fake US Dollars, Zambian Kwachas and over 100 kilograms of fake Gold nuggets.

According to DCI, four foreigners: among them Congolese, Tanzanians, a Nigerian and four Kenyans were arrested.

They will be charged in court on Tuesday.

” The Eight suspects are:- 1. Ruhota Kabagale, a Congolese 2. Manson Chogga Mtassi, a Tanzanian 3. Chukunosho Francis Ogbuanu, a Nigerian 4. Konie Kalist, a Tanzanian Kenyans: 5. Boniface Mtwasi Anjere 6. Robert Riagah 7. Arthur Caleb Otieno& 8. Michael Omondi Okengo,” added DCI.

On Monday, detectives from the Flying Squad unit have arrested six people and recovered 50 kilograms of fake gold at Yaya Centre in Kilimani.

This comes less than a month after another batch of fake gold was also impounded in a safe deposit box at Barclays Bank’s Queensway branch in Nairobi.

Ksh.2.6 billion in fake currency was also recovered from the same deposit box.
