United Fans To Blame For Coutinho Declining Old Trafford Move

Philippe Coutinho moved to Barcelona from Liverpool back in January 2018.

The Catalan club shelled out £142million on the Brazilian to make him the club’s all-time most expensive player and planned to use him to plug the whole left behind by Andres Iniesta.

But the transfer just hasn’t worked out for Coutinho, who was linked with a move away in January, and could leave the club for pastures new at the end of the season.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for the former Reds midfielder, who would command a large transfer fee and huge wages to boot, despite his poor season in Spain.

And the Red Devils got a good look at the Brazilian when he visited Old Trafford just last week in Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Manchester United.

The away side ran out 1-0 winners, and while Coutinho featured for Barcelona, he did little to influence the match in any way.

He was met with boos and jeers from large sections of the Manchester United fanbase, though, every time he received the ball.

The reason for the booing is because Coutinho used to play for United’s bitter rivals Liverpool.

And according to Sport, this has made a possible move difficult because is doesn’t appear that United will ‘forgive his Liverpool past’.
