Kenya Defence Forces has launched registration of its personnel on the National Integrated Information Management System, NIIMS commonly known as Huduma Namba.
Chief of Defence Forces, Samson Mwathethe said the process will be undertaken in all military barracks and camps in the country calling on all servicemen to come out and register.
Mwathethe spoke when he launched the 40 days exercise at the Department of Defence headquarters in Nairobi.
He was the first to be registered as army personnel.
Mwathathe said 63 servicemen will be sent to various places deemed not accessible to civilians to register other officers camping in those places.
The Chief of Defense Foces also emphasized on the need for all Kenyans to have the number saying it will ease access to government services.
Separately, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai also led the Kenya Police Service officers in registering for the huduma namba at the Jogoo house, Nairobi.
Mutyambai said the number will be beneficial to police officers when they seek Government services.
He has urged all Police Officers across the country to register themselves for ease of access to government services.
Early this month, President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the national launch of the new Huduma Namba, a project that seeks to identify all Kenyan residents through a unique primary identifier.
The President kicked off the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) by signing up for his own Huduma Namba and flagging off the registration kits to all the 47 counties.
He rolled out the NIIMS project at the Masii Public Grounds in Machakos County while Sports, Culture and Heritage CS, Ambassador Amina Mohammed represented Deputy President William Ruto in Kakamega County where the exercise was launched simultaneously.
