IS This The Fierce Army that Will Protect Ruto’s Votes in 2022

‘Mawimbi yakinipiga, Nguvu zake ndizo nanga’ That was the song blaring on Loudspeakers as DP William Ruto joined faithfuls in Kakamega to dance for the Lord.

This was the Salvation army church, mark the word army because it is going to dominate this story. Coming at a time when Ruto had just been insulted by Atwoli, the ‘Mawimbi’ in that song could still make sense if it was replaced by the veteran trade unionist.

If you watch the whole video, you will see Ruto surrounded by an army of white people, led by a very tall commander in the name of Dan Wanyama, an MP for Webuye West.

Now, I have heard many people saying Ruto will never be President, but they are doing nothing to ensure that the man from Sugoi does not become President.

Whatever you say and wish @WilliamsRuto is connecting with the populace and they are happy with him. Can’t take this one sway.— Rono Daniel (@RonoYah) April 14, 2019

In fact, I have seen some opposition members think they can incite the public against Ruto. This will backfire badly as it happened in the recent by-elections in Ugenya and Embakasi South.

Last month, during a church rally at Kasarani Stadium, Ruto told the congregation that he plans to go back to serve the Lord when he is done with the Presidency.

The problem with our political class, they don’t see something coming until it happens. To be President in Kenya, you need the majority behind you.

And it seems the DP realized long ago that tribal alliances may not really work in 2022 compared to endearing himself to Christians.

With God all things are possible, they will smear you will all the nonsense in the world, all the theft/corruption in Kenya, I know God has purposed for your future, the world will negatively refuse anything done by you and connect it with loots…— bethwel Lochor (@bethwel_lochor) April 14, 2019

“I have done a lot for churches across the country because I believe in promoting the work of God. But our competitors are troubled when I work closely with Christians because all they do is engage in telling stories and propaganda meant to cause divisions in the country.”  He said in Kakamega on Sunday.

It is now emerging that Ruto is planning to use the church as his main base ahead of the 2022 elections. Not many people thought about this and it was just attacking his huge donations.

At least 50% of Kenyans are Christians. And anyone who follows Prophet David Owuor will tell you the influence of that these pastors have on their followers.

It seems the DP is not as silly as some of us think or he just has smart advisers. Either way, expect churches like The salvation army to protect Ruto’s votes in 2022 with everything they got.

That will be a different type of army to the fracas we are used to and it should be very scary for the opposition.

Unless the Atwolis and the Murathe’s come up with something different, Ruto is going to be President.
