How Cunning Uhuru Reduced Raila into a Jubilee Errand Boy

There is a picture doing rounds on social media, showing Raila Odinga on a bill board asking Kenyans to register for the Huduma Namba. I mean has Baba been reduced to a Jubilee influencer?

Haha I can’t believe I supported this guy. This goes to prove that @DavidNdii was right about huduma namba/card. It’s just business and Rao has a cut in it. pic.twitter.com/kSGUi4MnI6— kimutai (@kimutai__) April 13, 2019

Online influencers are paid as little as sh.527 to make sure certain corporate tags are trending on social media. Some bloggers like Cyprian Nyakundi just thrive on exposing the rot in society.

There is no doubt that Raila is still the most influential figure in Kenya. But since the handshake with Raila Odinga, some of us are questioning the way his influence is being misused.

Last year, there was a lot of tension surrounding the controversial fuel tax, which subjected Kenyans to an eight per cent tax on Petroleum Products. The bill would have passed were it not for Raila who asked ODM MPs led by John Mbadi and Junet Mohammed.

But now the most controversial thing Raila has done is supporting Huduma Namba. Last month, the former Prime Minister was in Mombasa asking Kenyans to register.

But nobody that he could sink so low to be put on a billboard. This is very far from a man who ones asked Kenyans to boycott Safaricom.

There are very many concerns about Huduma Namba. For example the security of the Data collected and the rumors that it has something to do with 2022 elections. Raila has not addressed these issues.

The Handshake has surely reduced Raila into a mere errand boy for the ruling Jubilee coalition. This is a man who can and will do anything to impress Uhuru Kenyatta.

The big question is how much was he paid to betray everything he stands for? And what does it mean for his followers and his influence on 2022 politics?
