The battle of Supremacy in the Western Region Political circles seem to be far from over as leaders from the area continue firing guns at each other, left right and center.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli’s latest remarks on Deputy President William Ruto’s Presidential bid and Boni Khalwale’s gubernatorial bid has all but escalated the war of words among leaders from the Western Region.

According to Atwoli, William Ruto will not be on the ballot come 2022 and those gunning for his Presidency are all day dreamers.

He also played down former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s chances of taking over from Wycliffe Oparanya as the Kakamega County Chief.

“He will never be the governor of Kakamega county, he has no political stand and has done nothing tangible to the people to warrant what he is seeking,”said Atwoli .

Atwoli, in an attack that looked more personal also condemned Khalwale to Poverty and said that he will die a beggar.

Well, the remarks by the COTU boss seem to have angered a number of William Ruto’s loyalists with Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa taking on the outspoken trade unionist head on.

According to Echesa, Atwoli has no moral authority to lecture the people of Western on the leaders they will vote in come 2022 since nobody bestowed such a privilage on him.

Echesa has claimed that Atwoli was not even able to take care of his wife and as such he should not parade himself as political genius.

The war of words between Atwoli and Echesa did not start today. It will be remembered that Atwoli once cursed Echesa with Echesa later loosing his Job as Sports CS.

Echesa later responded to Atwoli saying the COTU boss was being trivial.

“ At your age Mzee Atwoli you should be worried more of how best you’ve moved the Luhya nation forward than petty mundane matter of purported curse!” He posted.
