Does Francis Atwoli have a ‘secret weapon’ against Ruto’s presidential candidature?

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli yesterday claimed that Deputy President William Ruto will not be on the ballot box come 2022.

Speaking in Lamu, where he had accompanied Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Likoni MP, Mishi Mboko, among others, the trade unionist asked those in attendance to count out Dr Ruto in the upcoming election.

“Jina la William Samoei Ruto haitakuwa ( The name of William Samoei Ruto will not be there),” said Atwoli.

This assertion raises the question of whether there is a secret plan that he is privy to, which other people are unaware of.

This comes only two days after another notorious loose tongue, David Murathe made another disturbing remark.

Responding to a question from show host, Tony Gachoka on KTN News TV station, Murathe answered, “who knows whether William Ruto will there in 2022?”

Atwoli claimed that the constitution will be changed to create additional powerful executive positions.

In Atwoli’s plans, the presidency, premiership, deputy premiers and other positions to be parceled out to Raila Odinga, Uhuru Kenyatta and Gideon Moi.

But DP Ruto won’t be in contention for any. But he kept the reasons to himself.
The question is, are these two ageing public figures merely expressing fear for Ruto that borders on madness, or is there a plan shared by others, which is secret, but only the two are reckless enough to go blurting out?

Are Atwoli’s planned weapons against Ruto political? Are they legal? Or could they be more sinister? When public figures speak like that, they should be taken to task and made to clarify what they mean otherwise such reckless comments in public could be poisonous and could cause tension in the Country.

Atwoli should come out clearly and clarify to the nation what he knows about Ruto’s fate as 2022 general elections are concerned. Nobody is above the law and DCI should not act as if nothing has happened!
