The dead cannot defend themselves. It is a parent’s nightmare to bury their own child, but it is another worst form of pain when you have to come out and defend your killed child from malicious rumours not only assassinating her character but also try to justify the brutality she faced in the hands of her killer.
Ivy Wangeci’s father Paul Gichungu Wainaina has come out to strongly defend her slain daughter against widespread social media accusations that she was a ‘slay queen’.
A term loosely translated to mean a young woman exchanging sex for material things and monetary
He refuted claims that her daughter had infected the killer with HIV/AIDS and that tests had been done to prove this.
“Please help me clean my daughter’s name. She was a decent, hardworking girl. The stories being circulated about her infecting her killer with HIV/Aids are untrue.
This has been discounted by tests already done. Ivy was brought up in a strict Christian background and is a very honest person. Her character cannot be questioned. She is a victim of a brutal murder and should not be vilified.”,” Wainaina said.
He also rubbished widespread claims on social media that Naphtali Kinuthia,her killer,had bought her a car which she was using to commute in school.
”Ivy didn’t even know how to drive.Those are lies,she would never accept such a thing from a man.She was a hard worker.She had a passion for medicine and was inspired by her uncles who are doctors. In fact she was planning to specialize in neurosurgery as she was following the footsteps of her uncle, Colonel Dr Charles Mwangi.”
Ivy Wangeci’s body was transferred from Eldoret to Nairobi on Thursday and her remains are at Kenyatta University Funeral Home.She will be buried on Thursday at Kirai Village in Mahiga Othaya.
