Arsenal are the latest and probably the most aggressive to make a last-ditch attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, according to L’Equipe.
Gunners boss Unai Emery is said to be keen on recruiting the 29-year-old whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Paris Saint-Germain have been widely tipped to seal a move for Herrera, but L’Equipe reports that talks are not as advanced as some media outlets have suggested.
The French club are still confident of securing the Spaniard’s services but the Gunners’ involvement has complicated matters.
Herrera was hopeful of staying at Old Trafford but it has been suggested that United were slow to offer the midfielder new terms and there has been a lack of communication between the player and the club.
It has led to PSG taking advantage of the situation and offering Herrera a lucrative deal. United are reportedly already looking at replacements with West Ham’s Declan Rice, Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Everton’s Idrissa Gueye being targeted.
