Real Madrid Set to Reward Bale But Not at The Club

Gareth Bale’s time at Real Madrid seems to be ending and not in a good way.

Despite scoring 102 goals from 227 appearances since arriving at the Bernabeu in 2013, Blancos fans have become tired of the Welshman.

Real have really underperformed without Cristiano Ronaldo this year and Bale, the man who was expected to fill the void he left, has failed to step up.

The forward has just 14 goals in 38 games – which means he’s producing nowhere near the numbers of his former Portuguese teammate.

But it’s not just him that’s had a disappointing campaign.

Madrid have been knocked out of the Champions League and the Copa del Rey – and are way behind Barcelona in La Liga, meaning they will finish in May without lifting a major trophy.

And if the latest reports from Spain are to be believed, this trophyless season will be Bale’s last at the Bernabeu.

According to sources, returning manager Zinedine Zidane will not be counting on the Welshman for the next campaign and the club are open to selling him in order to fund other transfers.

The details surrounding Bale’s situation are very interesting.

On Monday, Real’s managing director, Jose Angel Sanchez, met with the player’s agents, Jonathan Barnett and Luis Alonso, to discuss his future.

During the conversations, the director told Barnett and Alonso of the plans to sell Bale, but also ‘thanked him for good behaviour and commitment to the cause shown during his time in Madrid’.

What’s even more interesting, is AS report that Bale will be allowed to choose his next club – provided that the offers that arrive are ‘more or less the same’.

Although a clear price tag was not discussed at the meeting, Barnett has previously said that any club wishing to buy Bale would need to fork out €175 million.

On top of that, the star Welshman would be looking for close to €19,000,000 per year in salary, meaning he’s a very expensive asset indeed.

The fact that Real are open to allowing Bale to choose his new club is certainly interesting. But, whether any team will make an offer that suits both parties is uncertain.
