Former Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe has claimed that DP William Ruto is laying the ground to ditch Jubilee.

The sentiments come after ODM deputy leader Hassan Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, a key Raila ally, claimed Ruto has an elaborate plan to decamp from the ruling coalition and use Raila as a scapegoat.

Ruto, a former Kanu, ODM, UDM and URP member has, according to people close to him, identified a party that he will use, in case Jubilee denies him a presidential ticket.

Murathe claimed that Ruto did not meet the integrity threshold to continue holding a public office.
To back his claim, Murathe listed Ruto’s admission that the land on which Weston Hotel sits was illegally acquired as well as a court case where the Deputy President was ordered to pay Adrian Muteshi Sh5m for irregularly taking his land in Uasin Gishu.

In the interview, Murathe talked about a wide range of issues; from a possible political alliance between Opposition chief Raila Odinga and Uhuru in the run-up to the next General Election; to signs that Ruto and his allies could be planning to ditch the ruling coalition.

Murathe said the decision by Ruto allies to buy yellow T-shirts for their supporters in Kiambu was a sign they were plotting to ditch Jubilee ahead of the 2022 elections.

Last week alone, Kiambu county received Ksh 50 Million from Tanga Tanga brigade’s chair Dr. Ruto- our aim is to eat the guys money..The yellow T-shirts alone brought Ksh 5Milliom to Kiambu through Waititu..

“You have seen they have started wearing yellow T-shirts, which are colours of URP. What message are they sending? Are they hinting at leaving Jubilee?”
He backed what Siaya Senator James Orengo alluded to that Uhuru and Raila could be planning an alliance for the 2022 contest.#
